Psoriasis

Psoriasis is a common skin condition that can be a few areas of itchy dry skin to major eruptions that can cover the body. There are different types of Psoriasis that affect different parts of the body such as scalp and nails, under armpits and genitals, all have varying symptoms.

The cause of Psoriasis is not certain, however it is thought to be caused by changes in certain immune psoraiasiscells that make them fight normal skin. It can be a chronic skin condition characterised by thick scaly, flaking plaques, usually on the elbows knees and scalp (it is non-contagious).

We are very aware that Psoriasis can be a distressing condition, it tends to run in families and can be worse in winter due to dryness, generally it improves in the summer from exposure to sunlight which can help, but will worsen if the skin gets sun burned.

There is no known cure for Psoriasis however we can help to make the condition much easier to live with and the sufferer more comfortable.

Treatment options

Use X Tra Dry Skin Fix and in the evening apply Super 3 Booster

In severe cases use under an occlusive wraps such a cling film.

Continue this procedure to achieve a smooth skin surface and thereafter regularly twice a week in places where the Psoriasis normally would re-appear.

At the same time for dry Psoriasis it is recommended to use Body Lotion for Dry Skin once daily because the skin as an organ will benefit from optimal skin care and thus support a better prognosis for pathological skin areas as well.

Additionally recommended is a daily intake of 4 Derma + LA40 Tablets per 60 kgs body weight for at least 2 months thereafter 3 tablets daily.

Note that the moisturizing effect from the tablets will be optimal only after a minimum of 2 months of treatment.

Advice

  • Apply crème gently in the direction of hair growth.
  • Never rub up and down as this could trigger itching, block the hair follicles or create heat in the inflamed skin.
  • Apply all over the skin but particularly to dry areas whenever the skin becomes dry.
  • Continue to apply the crème even when the psoriaisis has improved and this will prevent flare ups.
